Making corrections to an existing record
(1) Following the procedure for a keyword search (given in "Displaying a existing record" above) to
pull up the desired record. (Record display mode)
(2) Press the [Enter] key. The cursor flashes at the first character position of the name field to indicate
that you are in record data edit mode. Press the [Esc] key to return to record display mode.
(3) Move the cursor to the position at which you want to make corrections. Use the arrow keys [↑] or
[↓] to move between fields, and the arrow keys [←] or [→] to move within a field.
(4) Press any character key to insert the character at the cursor position. The character previously at
that location is shifted one character to the right. If characters already fill all available space in the
field, the overflow characters are deleted.
(5) To delete, use the [BS] key or [Del] key ([Shift], [BS]). The [BS] key deletes the character to the left
of the cursor position, while the [Del] key deletes the character at the cursor position.
(6) After making the correction, press the [Enter] key to save the record. The screen reverts to record
display mode in (1).
If an error occurs, the system displays one of the following messages for one second before
returning to record data edit mode.
NO NAME FIELD!!
Data was deleted from the name field, leaving it blank. Enter information in the name field before
saving the record.
USER MEMORY OVERFLOW!!
The address book does not have enough memory to save the current record. Delete records and
perform corrections again.
(7) Besides saving a record, you can exit record data edit mode in the following ways:
[Esc] key:
[Submode] key ([Shift], [Mode]): Return to the address book submenu.
[Mode] key:
When you quit record data edit mode using any of these methods, all corrections just made for the
current record are discarded.
Deleting an existing record
(1) Following the procedure for keyword search (described in "Displaying a existing record" above),
display the record you want to delete. (Record display mode)
(2) Press the [Erase] key. The following message appears to prompt you for confirmation:
Display: ERASE RECORD? (Y/N)
(3) To cancel deletion, press the [N] key or [Esc] key. You will return to record display mode in (1).
(4) To delete, press the [Y] key. The current record is deleted, and the system returns to record display
mode. The next record is displayed.
If no records remain following the deletion, the system displays the message "NO RECORD
EXISTING!!" for one second before entering new data input mode.
