Apollo Safety Features 10.1 Emergency Start The emergency start procedure shortens the self test when the Apollo must be operational immediately. The emergency start procedure can be performed up to ten times in succession. After ten cancellations, the system will not allow another cancellation and a complete self test must be performed.

Apollo Safety Features 10.2 Mains Power Failure In the event of power failure the Apollo automatically switches to the built-in uninterruptible power supply (battery backup). Provided that the battery is fully charged, operation will be continued for at least 30 minutes (up to 90 minutes, depending on the ventilation parameters).

10.2 Mains Power Failure If the battery is almost depleted, the message “BATTERY LOW” will be displayed. Apollo permits manual ventilation with 100% O2 in the event of a power failure and depleted battery. The fresh gas measurements, ventilator, and monitoring are inactive.

Apollo Safety Features 10.5 Fresh Gas Delivery Failure If the fresh gas mixer fails, the following message is displayed in the status field on the screen: “GAS MIXER FAIL” and the numerical values for the fresh gas flows appear grayed out to indicate that they may be inaccurate. The current ventilation mode remains active.

Apollo Safety Features 10.6 Ventilator and Fresh Gas Delivery Failure If both the ventilator and gas mixer fail, the following message is displayed in the status field on the screen: “GAS + VENT FAIL”. The ventilation soft keys are removed from the screen and a prompt appears advising the user how to proceed: “Ventilator failure!

Apollo Safety Features 10.7 Display Failure If there is no display on the monitor screen: • Switch the machine off. • Set O2 flow to the desired level using the total flow meter. • Check the vaporizer setting. • Ventilate patient manually.
Page 12
Apollo Safety Features 10.8 User Interface Failure If the keypads, confirm knob, or flow control knobs are not operational: • Select the monitoring mode. • Ventilate patient manually. Observe the total flow meter for approximate flow!

Apollo Safety Features 10.9 System Failure If the system no longer responds to an action: 1. Ventilate the patient manually. 2. Switch the machine off and on again. 3. Cancel the self test. 4. Check the vaporizer setting. 5. Close all flow controls (except O2), and run 100% O2.
