SIMATIC Management Agent
During initial commissioning or system restore, a dialog is displayed asking whether you want to use the SIMATIC
Management Agent. Additional information is available in the section "Operation with the SIMATIC Management Agent".
Assigning the computer name
The computer name is assigned automatically at first with during initial commissioning. During the course of commissioning,
you are prompted to change the computer name. This prompt appears until the computer name has been changed. You need
to enter the final computer name now, because the computer name must not be changed after initial commissioning.
Afterwards, restart the computer. You can only enter the computer in a workgroup or a domain after you have changed the
computer name and rebooted the computer.
Assigning the user password for Windows Server operating systems
Adhere to the relevant guidelines when assigning the user password in the Windows Server operating systems. You can find
the guidelines in the help for Windows Server and at: Microsoft TechNet (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/)
After initial commissioning and after system restore
After the initial commissioning of the device or after installation of the Restore USB, note the following:
The Windows firewall and Windows Defender virus scanner are enabled.
Windows protocol SMBv1 is disabled.
Only TLS 1.2 is enabled.
If this requirement is not needed or cannot be met, you can find registry files on the Restore USB stick under
"Additional_Products\TLS" which enable the changeover between Microsoft Standard and PCS settings. A restart of the
system may be required after the changeover.
The device is in a workgroup and may need to be entered in a domain.
The name assigned to the computer during initial commissioning may not be changed later.
Check the settings for the time and time zone. If necessary, change these settings to values applicable for you.
A local group policy is set up during commissioning which locks an unwanted, automatic update of the Intel Onboard
Graphics driver.
To be able to update the driver when needed, you must set it to "Not configured" (at least temporarily).
Open the Group Policy editor.
Navigate to the group policy "Guidelines for local computer->Computer configuration->Administrative templates -
>System->Device installation->Restrictions with the device installation->Prevent the installation of devices with these
device IDs".
Make a note of the entered device ID so that you can reactivate the lock after the driver has been upgraded.
Set the group policy to "Not configured" and restart your system.
After restarting, you can install the new graphics driver.
Finally, reactivate the previously disabled lock.
