    NETRS232.The NETRS232 places the serial data in a TCP/IP wrapper and sends it out its Ethernet port. Data moving the other direction, from the Ethernet side of the NETRS232 to the serial device, undergoes the same process in reverse. NETRS232s use industry- standard hardware interfaces and have broad Windows operating system support ("Driver mode").

WAN activation Activating a NETRS232 on a WAN is be done in two different ways, depending on the network location of the NETRS232: • NETRS232 located externally – NETRS232 is directly accessible on the Internet. • NETRS232 located internally – NETRS232 is located behind a gateway or router and is not directly accessible.
