compressed air (always wear eye protection to avoid
eye injury).
9. Reinstall the air lter, making sure that the tabs on the

WARNING
Never run the saw without all the parts, including the
drivecase cover and starter housing, securely in place.
Because parts can fracture and pose a danger of
thrown objects, leave repairs of the ywheel and clutch
to trained Ryobi service dealer personnel.
NOTE: Depending on the type of fuel used, the type and
amount of lubricant used, and/or your operating conditions,
the exhaust port and silencer may become blocked with
carbon deposits. If you notice a power loss with your
petrol-powered tool, you may need to remove these
deposits to restore performance. We highly recommend
that only quali ed service technicians perform this service.
CHECKING THE FUEL FILTER
See gure 68.
Check the fuel
lter (A) periodically. Replace it if
contaminated or damaged.
REPLACING THE SPARK PLUG
See gure 69.
This engine uses a Champion RCJ4 or RCJ6Y or NGK
BPMR7A with 0.63 mm (0.025 inch) electrode gap. Use
an exact replacement and replace every 50 hours or more
frequently, if necessary.
1. Remove the spark plug lead, by carefully rotating back
and forth whilst gently pulling upwards.
2. Loosen the spark plug by turning it counter clockwise
with a wrench.
3. Remove the spark plug.
4. Hand thread the new spark plug, turning it clockwise.
Tighten securely with wrench.
NOTE: Be careful not to cross-thread the spark plug.
Cross-threading will seriously damage the engine.
5. Re-attach the spark plug lead by pressing rmly onto
the top of the spark plug.
CLEANING THE SPARK ARRESTING SILENCER
See gure 70.
The silencer (A) is equipped with a spark arrester screen
(B). A faulty spark arrester screen can create a re hazard.
Through normal use, the screen can become dirty and
should be inspected weekly and cleaned as required.
Always keep the silencer and spark arrester on your saw
in good condition.
