Cautions for Using Disks
When using disks, note the following points.
• Do not touch either side of the disk when removing it from a case or inserting it into this product.
• Do not leave fingerprints or dust on either side and do not scratch either side of the disk.
• Do not put a label on either side of the disk and do not write on the disk using a pen or pencil.
• Do not bend or place heavy objects on the disk.
• If a disk becomes dirty or drops of water accumulate on it, wipe the disk using a dampened cloth
and then wipe with a dry cloth.
Do not use a silicon cloth. Do not dry using a hair dryer or leave to dry naturally.
• Do not wipe with benzine, thinner or a static guard.
• Do not spill coffee or other liquids on the disk.
• Do not store disks in environments with high or low temperatures.
• Do not store disks in humid or dusty environments.
• When not using, store disks in their cases.
• Eject disks before turning off the server. If the disk is inserted in the device for a long period of
time (exposing the recording surface), the recording surface may be scratched or become dusty. If
this occurs the disk may become unusable.
• Eject disks when not using them. Do not carry this product with a disk inserted.
Cautions for Using the Drive
• Only use round disks (do not use star shaped or card type disks). Not doing so may cause read or
write errors and device failure.
• If cracked or scratched disks are used, the drive may be damaged.
• Do not use bent, broken or cracked disks. Doing so may cause failures. If such disks are used and
the drive fails, the warranty will become invalid.
• If commercially available CD-ROM cleaning disks are used, dust may get on the lens. Do not use
CD-ROM cleaning disks.
• Do not use DVD disks that do not meet thickness standards. DVD thickness standards are set to
between 1.14mm and 1.5mm. If disks that have a thin recording surface or are not within the range
set out in the standards it may cause device failure. If DVDs that do not meet the standards are
used and the drive fails, the warranty will become invalid.
• Region codes can be changed up to 4 times.
If the region code is changed 4 times it becomes fixed to the last set region code. Take note as
there is no way to change a fixed region code.
• The region code at the time of purchase is "2. Western Europe, Japan, South Africa".
• When the access LED is blinking, do not shock or jolt this product.
