2.2 RS-422 CONNECTION (MULTIPLE ITDC CONNECTIONS)
RS422/RS232 converter is required to use RS422 communication between multiple iTDCs
and a host computer. Please follow the following instructions below;
1. Connection of RS422/RS232 converter to PC
Connect RS232/RS422 converter to PC by cable. If PC has serial port, use 9-Pin serial
cable to connect RS232/RS422 converter otherwise serial multi port that separate power
applied is required.
If you don't have serial port on the PC, purchase separate serial multi port card then
equip it on main board of PC. (USB to Serial port is not recommended to use. It has low
output current so communication error may be generated.)
2. Connection of RS422/RS232 converter to iTDC/iTDC-SR
I. Firstly, connect RS422/RS232 converter to first iTDC/iTDC-SR as cross type.
i. Connect RS422-RX(+) of the one iTDC to TX(+) port of the converter.
ii. Connect RS422-RX(-) of the one iTDC to TX(-) port of the converter.
iii. Connect RS422-TX(+) of the one iTDC to RX(+) port of the converter.
iv. Connect RS422-TX(-) of the one iTDC to RX(-) port of the converter.
II. Secondly connect the first iTDC/iTDC-SR to the other iTDC/iTDC-SRs as direct type.
i. Connect RS422-TX(+) of one iTDC to RS422-TX(+) of another iTDC.
ii. Connect RS422-TX(-) of one iTDC to RS422-TX(-) of another iTDC.
iii. Connect RS422-RX(+) of one iTDC to RS422-RX(+) of another iTDC.
iv. Connect RS422-RX(-) of one iTDC to RS422-RX(-) of another iTDC.
v. Install and run iTDC Application Software. (STARWATCH iTDC PRO I, II or
STANDARD)
