The GN33 chart system includes a built-in world chart for rough planning and overview. The choice of chart system best suitable for the GN33 was carefully singled out to be the C-MAP NT+ mini cards. The optional C-MAP charts are available world-wide at your local Simrad dealer.
The lifetime of the internal battery is minimum 5 years. If not exchanged before it goes flat, all data in the unit’s memory will be lost. We strongly recommend that you bring in the GN33 unit to a Simrad workshop for a new battery max. 5 years from date of purchase.

GN33 Installation and service Chapter 10-5 10.4 Installation of antenna The antenna must be placed in a position where tall constructions, steel wires, masts, etc. do not obstruct the view to the satellites. Do not, however, mount the antenna in the top of a mast or tower, as this may degrade the COG and SOG readings, especially if DGPS is used.
10.5.1 Power supply connections The internal voltage regulator will allow the GN33 to operate normally within the power supply voltage range from 10 to 32 V DC. The GN33 is connected to external power (battery) by means of the supplied power/NMEA cable.
Chapter 10-8 GN33 Installation and service 10.6 Optional connections 10.6.1 External alarm, function switch and data transfer The REMOTE connector includes connections for the external alarm, func- tion switch and data transfer to/from PC. Refer to section 10.5 and 10.5.4.
GN33 Installation and service Chapter 10-9 10.6.2 Data transfer between two GN33 units A second GN33 can be connected via the REMOTE port to enable exchange of waypoint and route data. For interconnecting two GN33 units, use two alarm/data cables, part no. 153-6070-001.
Chapter 10-10 GN33 Installation and service 10.6.3 External alarm and log connections The port marked ECHO features two alarm relay output, alarm for missing position update and general navigational alarm. Further, there is a log output with 200 pulses per nm (5V 50mA).
10.8 Repair and service The GN33 is sealed and does not contain any user serviceable parts. Opening of this unit will void its warranty. If the GN33 requires servicing or repair, call your authorized SIMRAD dealer, but first check section 10.9 Troubleshooting.

The almanac data is used by the GPS receiver to find and lock onto the satellite signal. GN33 has a built-in basic almanac. Auto trackpoint shift – will automatically shift to the next trackpoint in the track and provide new steering details (Track navigation).
Appendix A-2 GN33 Glossary of terms LOG speed calibration – the unit is preset to receive 19000 pulses per nauti- cal mile from the log transducer (paddle wheel). However the figure might have to be changed to compensate for various transducers and actual water flow passing the transducer.
