Operation — Installing and Bending Conduit
Set the type and size of conduit you will be bending
with the rotary selector switches located on the side
of the bender.
Failure to do so may result in the shoe rotating the
opposite direction than expected.
• Do not allow a bend or coupler to go over the
roller supports.
• Do not allow the trailing end of the conduit to go
over the roller supports.
Failure to observe these warnings can result in
severe injury or death.

Note: Variations for deluxe pendant operation are
included within brackets [...].
[On the deluxe terminal, select the size and type of
conduit with the six conduit size keys and the one
conduit type key. Each press of conduit type key will
choose the next type. The rotary selector switches have
no effect when the deluxe terminal is used.] If the
pendant display shows H. [deluxe pendant screen
shows SET HOME POSITION], set home position on
the bender before installing conduit. Press UNLOAD
until the shoe hook for the type and size of conduit
selected is at the bottom (5 o'clock position). Press
BEND until the pendant display changes from H. [or
SET HOME POSITION on the deluxe pendant] and
starts counting. Then press UNLOAD until the shoe
rotates backwards and stops. This is the proper load
position for the selected size and type of conduit and
home position is now set. After you start bending, the
bender automatically stops at this load position when
UNLOAD is pressed. The standard pendant displays H.
[SET HOME POSITION on the deluxe pendant] each
time there is a change in conduit type setting, a change
in conduit size to the other shoe, [RESET key is
pressed on the deluxe pendant], and when power to the
bender has been interrupted. Home position can only be
set when the shoe rotates in the bend direction.
Note: The shoe can rotate a restricted amount in the
bend direction. When the maximum rotation has been
reached, BEND and JOG keys will not function. Always
use the UNLOAD key to rotate the shoes to the proper
load position.
The shoe grooves for EMT conduit use silver hooks, the
shoe grooves for IMC and rigid (steel and aluminum)
conduit use green hooks, and the optional shoes for
bending 40 Mil PVC-coated steel rigid conduit have
black hooks. Insert the conduit into the proper shoe
groove and hook. Align the bend location marks with the
front of the hook. If you wish to side load the conduit,
rotate the shoe hook to the 5 o'clock position.
