Appending Dust Delete Data

Normally, the Self Cleaning Sensor Unit will eliminate most of the dust that
may be visible on captured images. However, for the case where visible
dust still remains, you can append the Dust Delete Data to the image for
erasing the dust spots later. The Dust Delete Data is used by Digital Photo
Professional (EOS software, = 484) to erase the dust spots automatically.
Preparation
Prepare a solid white object such as a sheet of paper.

Set the lens focal length to 50 mm or longer.

Set the lens's focus mode switch to <MF> and set the focus to infinity

(∞). If the lens has no distance scale, rotate the camera to face toward
you and turn the focusing ring clockwise all the way.
Obtaining the Dust Delete Data

Select [Dust Delete Data].
Under the [z] tab, select [Dust Delete
z
Data], then press <0>.

Select [OK].
When you select [OK] and press
z
<0>, the automatic sensor cleaning
will be performed, then a message
will appear. Although there will be a
mechanical sound of the shutter during
the cleaning, no picture is taken.
