Using the zoom function

Adjust the angle of view you want to shoot.
The unit has a 24× optical zoom.
This can be expanded up to approximately 48 times (approximately 32 times in UHD recording) when the [CAMERA] menu → [SW MODE] → [i.ZOOM]
→ [ON] is set.

Adjusting the zoom position

The zoom can be operated at the following 3 locations:
≥ Zoom lever (on the grip)
≥ Zoom lever (on the handle): When the handle unit (supplied) is attached to the unit
≥ Rear ring on the lens: When [CAMERA] menu → [SW MODE] → [REAR RING] → [ZOOM] is selected
∫ About the zoom speed
≥ The zoom speed changes with the amount that the zoom lever (on the grip) is pushed or the speed that the rear ring is turned.
≥ The zoom is at a steady rate with the zoom lever (on the handle).
Performs the zoom operation with the speed set in the [CAMERA] menu → [SW MODE] → [H.ZOOM SPEED].

NOTE
0 If you take your finger off the zoom lever during zoom operation, the operation sound may be recorded. When returning the zoom lever to the original
position, move it quietly.
0 When the zoom magnification is at its maximum, the subjects are focused at about 1.2 m (47.2q) or more.
0 When the zoom ratio is 1×, the subjects are focused at about 10 cm (3.93q) or more.
0 The units for the zoom ratio can be changed in the [ZOOM/FOCUS] menu. (l 79)
Using i.ZOOM
When [i.ZOOM] is set to [ON], you can zoom to a maximum of approximately 48× (32× when recording with UHD) while maintaining the beauty of high-
definition image quality.

Select the [CAMERA] menu → [SW MODE] → [i.ZOOM] → [ON].
≥ You can set [i.ZOOM] in a USER button so that you can use iZoom. (l 49)
≥ The zoom ratio display changes.

j Z99: In iZoom

3 Rear ring
A side: Zoom out the image.
B side: Zoom in the image.
≥ In the [ZOOM RING] menu, you can also change the turn direction for the
rear ring and change the zoom control. (l 64)
Zoom ratio
A
≥ The zoom ratio can be confirmed between [Z00]/[iZ00] (maximum wide
angle) to [Z99]/[iZ99] (maximum telephoto) on the screen display. The
value becomes higher as the unit zooms in and smaller as the unit zooms
out.
