When other problems occur
The table below describes how to troubleshoot problems that do not produce an error code.
Cannot send faxes.
Cannot receive faxes even when
sending them is possible.

Cause
The recipient's fax machine does
not support G3 standard.
Memory is full.
The recipient's fax machine did
not respond within 35 seconds.
The recipient's fax machine is out
of paper.
Sending fax was canceled
manually.
The original is jammed.
Redialing failed.
Problem
Check the error code, and then perform the appropriate
procedure to resolve the problem.
Select a transmission speed supported by
the recipient fax machine, and resend the
fax.
Print, send, or delete the jobs stored in the
memory.
Send the fax again. Contact the recipient
and ask them to check that their fax
machine is working properly.
To send a fax to an international
destination, enter a pause before the
recipient's fax/telephone number.
Contact the recipient and ask them to load
paper.
Send the fax again.
Remove the jammed original.
Make sure the recipient's fax number is
correct, and check that the telephone line
is properly connected.
Solution
• A print cartridge is empty. Replace the print cartridge.
See page 203 "Replacing the Print Cartridge".
• Tray 1 is empty. Load paper in Tray 1. See page 45
"Loading Paper".
• If fax reception mode is manual mode, you must
receive the fax manually. See page 124 "Receiving a
Fax".
