HD-SDI Surveillance Camera
GB
Please read these operating instructions carefully prior to
installation and keep them for later use.
1 Applications
This high-resolution colour camera is especially designed
for use in video surveillance systems (CCTV). It is
equipped with an 8.5 mm image sensor (
1
") and with a
3
lens with variable focus (2.8 mm – 12 mm) that can be
most flexibly aligned by means of 3 movement axes. Due
to its robust dome housing, the camera is weatherproof
(protection rating: IP 66) and protected against vandal-
ism. The camera features automatic day/night switching
with infrared suppression filter, backlight compensation,
digital noise reduction, mirror-inverted image display, dig-
ital zoom, motion detection and a masking function to
cover or conceal zones that are not to be monitored. The
camera is equipped with a digital output (SDI) for high-
resolution image signals (HD) and with an analog output
for testing purposes. The setting menu can also be
remote-controlled via an RS-485 interface. During dark-
ness, the 30 infrared LEDs (11) illuminate up to 20 m of
the surveillance area.
2 Safety Notes
The camera corresponds to all relevant directives of the
EU and is therefore marked with
.
G
The camera housing is weatherproof, but not ab-
solutely watertight. Therefore, do not immerge the cam-
era into water.
G
Protect the camera against extreme temperatures (ad-
missible ambient temperature range: -10 °C to +50 °C).
G
Never touch the lens with your fingers. For cleaning the
lens, only use optical lens cleaners.
G
For cleaning the housing, never use aggressive deter-
gents or chemicals.
G
No guarantee claims for the camera and no liability for
any resulting personal damage or material damage will
be accepted if the camera is used for other purposes
than originally intended, if it is not correctly installed or
if it is not repaired in an expert way.
If the camera is to be put out of operation defin-
itively, take it to a local recycling plant for a dis-
posal which is not harmful to the environment.

3 Mounting the Camera
1) Loosen the three screws of the dome (6) by means of
the wrench supplied, and then remove the dome from
the base (2). To avoid scratches, leave the protective
foil on the dome while mounting the camera.
2) Remove the three screws located in the edge of the
base and then remove the mounting plate (1) from the
base.
3) To find the optimum place of mounting, make a test
run and set the camera temporarily into operation
(
chapter 4).
4) At the location of mounting, drill four holes for fixing the
mounting plate and, if necessary, drill a hole for the
connection cable. Fasten the mounting plate to the
location of mounting, using the screws supplied. Then
screw the base onto the mounting plate.
To guide the cable through the cable inlet at the
side of the base, screw off the cover (3) and guide the
cable through the inlet; then use the gasket supplied to
make sure that no humidity can enter into the inlet.
5) Once all settings have been made (
chapter 4),
place the dome onto the base and fasten it by means
of the three screws.
4 Connecting and Aligning the Camera
1) Use a 75 Ω cable to connect the BNC inline jack (10) to
the SDI video input of a monitor. The maximum cable
length possible depends on the cable quality. With
the low-loss special cable KHD-1 from MONACOR,
the maximum cable length is 170 m. Repeaters (e. g.
HDEXT-206) can be inserted to support cable lengths
of several hundred meters.
2) To make menu settings at the camera, connect the
plug (14) of the operation adapter to the jack (13)
located beneath the lens.
For testing purposes, an analog video signal is
additionally available at the BNC inline jack (16) of the
operation adapter only while settings are being made.
3) Connect a regulated 12 V power supply with a perma-
nent rating of 370 mA to the red inline jack (9). A low-
voltage plug 5.5 / 2.1 mm (exterior / interior diameter) is
required. Make absolutely sure to observe the correct
polarity (centre contact = +).
Order No. 18.3610
CAUTION The infrared LEDs switch on in case of
darkness. When setting up the camera, never look
directly into the lit infrared LEDs from a close range.
The infrared light may cause eye irritation. However,
the infrared radiation is far below the emission limit
and rated risk-free according to EN 62471.
4) To make menu settings by remote control via RS-485,
connect the control unit to the camera, using the
cables "485+/-" (8). Also insulate the connections of
these cables when they are not used; for outdoor
installations, make sure that the connections are pro-
tected against humidity.
5) Please observe the following for outdoor installations:
The connections (8 – 10) and the cable splitter (7) are
not weatherproof and must be protected accordingly.
6) Switch on the monitor connected and move the cam-
era support to align the camera to the surveillance
zone. Make sure that the cables are not stretched or
pulled off. The camera support in the base can be
moved as follows: To tilt the camera, loosen the two
lateral screws (4); to turn the camera around the lens
axis, loosen the screw (5) on the support ring.
7) Turn the adjustment rings of the lens to select the field
of view and to focus the image. The respective adjust-
ment lever (12) also serves as a setscrew: loosen it
prior to making the adjustments and fasten it again
once the adjustments have been completed (if re -
quired, use the screwdriver supplied).
5 Adjustments via the On-screen Menu
The on-screen menu is operated by means of the control
lever (15). To display the on-screen menu, press the con-
trol lever. The main menu appears:
