5. PRINCIPAL CAUSES OF ERRORS AND SOLUTIONS

The following table describes the anomalies that can be presented with greater frequency and the possible solutions. When
this is indicated, it will be necessary for a professional or Technical Assistance Service authorised by FERLUX Chimeneas y Barba-
coas to conduct the checks described.
Problem
Fire too low or won't catch
Fire too strong
Smoke emission
during lighting
There are
strange and/or unpleasant
smells
Replacement of the door glass in GALAXY/TAURUS (L) and PANORAMIC (R) devices.
Cause
Damp or green firewood
Firewood too big
Poor quality or unsuitable
firewood
Insufficient air
Insufficient draught
Excessive air
Excessive draught
Poor quality firewood
Smoke extractor flue too cold
Use of resinous firewood or
firewood rich in aromatic oils
The device should adapted
after the first few uses.
Solution
Damp, green or very young firewood contains an ex-
cessive quantity of water which results in much of the
heat energy evaporating with the water. The solution is
to use quality firewood or fuel in accordance with the
instructions in section 3.1.
To initiate combustion, as well as the "fire lighter packs"
We recommend that you use small logs with a greater
surface exposed to the flame and easily consumed.
Not all types of wood offer the same performance. For
optimal conditions, We recommend that you use the fu-
els indicated in section 3.1.
Oxygen from the air is crucial for combustion. Ensure
that apparatus has an open air vent (primary and/or
glass), in accordance with the instructions in section
3.2. To facilitate the start of combustion, open the
door some 3 or 4 cm until the glass is heated. Simi-
larly, it is also possible for some entry to be obstructed.
Check that the smoke extractor flue is not obstructed,
that its shape is suitable as described in section 2.2 and
arrange de-sooting if necessary.
Closure of primary air vent to achieve the strength of
flame desired. If the problem persists, close the air in
the glass gradually.
Install a draught regulator.
Not all types of wood offer the same performance. For
optimal conditions, We recommend that you use the
fuels indicated in section 3.1.
Heat the smoke extractor flue in the initial phase of
combustion with the help of a fire-lighter pack, a little
paper and small logs.
Certain types of wood contain a higher quantity of resin
or even aromatic oils, which when combusted release
certain aromas or smells. We recommend that you use
quality wood in accordance with the instructions in
section 3.1.
A new device may contain certain deposits of oil or sim-
ilar. During the first few uses after installation, these de-
posits may burn and release certain smells, much like
the paintwork, which is being subject to its first heating
processes. So these smells are entirely normal.
