5.6.1.3.4.1 Device configure <1> Operating system
The various operating modes can be set on this screen.
It is possible to pre-set the times after which the device enters sleep
mode following the last keypad actuation, or after which it switches off
completely.
The automatic mode changeover should save energy and therefore
also increase operating times with rechargeable battery operation.
Changing between operating modes should only be deactivated if the
device is permanently connected to mains power.
Attention: The device also uses power from the battery cells in sleep
mode and even when switched off, e.g. to continue operating the real-
time clock.
If sleep mode / automatic switch-off are selected, with a changeover to sleep mode the highest
energy consumers in the device are automatically switched off after the pre-set time, e.g. the colour
display, as well as the USB connection to a PC or a printer.
All operating settings and the previous saved test reports are saved to RESET-proof data memory.
The device can be readied for operation again with the red <ON> button.
This then takes approx. 30 seconds. During this time, the operating programs are first reloaded,
and then the evaluation program. The display shows the main screen and it is also possible to
reactivate the USB data connection to the PC or printer. In the PC application REA TransWin32 it is
possible to automatically re-establish the connection to the REA ScanCheck 3.
Sleep after [min] specifies the time after which the device switches to sleep mode if no button has
been pressed in the meantime.
Shutdown after [min] specifies the time in minutes after which the device switches off completely
from sleep mode. If the operator has forgotten to switch the device off after use for example, these
operating functions make sure that the device is switched off after the pre-set switch-off time at the
latest, in order to use the energy in the batteries as sparingly as possible, and to prevent complete
discharge.
The REA ScanCheck 3n is equipped with a sound generator (beeper). This supplements the visual
displays with acoustic signals. If these sounds are irritating, the beeper can be switched off by
positioning the coloured input field on the box and pressing the <OK Enter> button. In order to
activate the beeper, the box is filled again in the same way.
In order to distinguish the ScanCheck3 in a network environment, the device can be assigned an
individual device name.
If the device name is to be cited on the test reports and should deviate from the network name,
another name can be entered in the "Responsible User" field.
To do this, control the input field with the arrow keys and mark it in colour. Using the
<del.>
button,
it is possible to delete the characters to the left.
By pressing the number buttons (including the ˽ button) multiple times it is possible to enter
numbers, letters and special characters.
