Ensure the bleed screw is in place. Do not tighten it now.

Opening the Valve

This step should be performed according to company regulations.
WARNING
CAUTION
Proceed carefully to avoid introducing air into the transformer. Use
a bucket to collect the oil.
1.
Using the supplied 5/32-in Allen key, fully close the sensor's bleed screw and then
open it 1/8 of turn.
2.
Slowly open the transformer valve until oil leaks out of the sensor's sampling port
(see Figure 6-7 on page 6-24).
3.
When there are no more air bubbles present in the oil, shut the bleed screw tightly.
4.
Open the valve completely.
5.
Wipe all traces of oil from the sensor.
WARNING
Do not use any solvent.
CAUTION
6.
Inspect the adaptor and sensor for oil leaks.
7.
Dispose of the collected oil according to company standards.
