Installing and Replacing Network
Interface Cards and Accelerated Data
Path (ADP) Services Modules
The Nokia IP1200 Series appliance may come with network interface cards (NICs) in a PMC
carrier or an ADP module you ordered already installed. All NICs installed in the IP1200 Series
are housed in a 6U PMC carrier. 6U PMC carriers are hot swappable, but ADP modules are not.

Caution
You should have a working knowledge of networking equipment before you attempt to
service an IP1200 Series. Limit service of the appliance to the procedures described in
this chapter.
Caution
To help guard against electrostatic discharge damage, make sure you are properly
grounded by using a grounding wrist strap and following the instructions provided with
the wrist strap before you handle the components or open the appliance. The
grounding plug on the front of the appliance (shown in
chassis grounding point. If you do not have a grounding wrist strap, make sure you are
properly grounded before you touch any electronic component.
