Installing and Replacing Components

This chapter provides information on how to install or replace user serviceable items in your
IP150 appliance. The following topics are covered:

Replacing the Compact Flash Memory Card

Replacing a Hard-Disk Drive
Replacing or Upgrading Memory
Installing or Replacing the Check Point Encryption Accelerator Card
Replacing the Battery
Caution
You should have a working knowledge of networking equipment before attempting to
service an IP150 appliance. Limit service of the appliance to the procedures described
in this chapter.
Caution
Protect your IP150 appliance and other electronic equipment from electrostatic
discharge (ESD) damage by making sure you are properly grounded before you touch
any component.
Replacing the Compact Flash Memory Card
In the hard-disk based IP150 appliances, the compact flash card stores only the boot manager;
and the Check Point IPSO operating system and Check Point application are stored on the
hard-disk drive. Use the internal compact flash to boot the system and install the Check Point
IPSO operating system on the disk. The compact flash card is located on the motherboard in a
slot behind the hard-disk drive location.
