ONNECTING A
The SCU and H4LXR craft interfaces are accessed through the Craft Port on their respective front panels. For
initial setup of the line unit, connect a PC running a terminal emulation program (such as Hyperterminal or
ProComm) or a VT100-compatible terminal to the SCU Craft port
DB9 connector. The procedure for connecting to an H4LXR Craft port is the same.
Connect a maintenance terminal to the SCU Craft port using a shielded cable with a maximum
length of approximately 50 feet (at 9600 baud, 8 bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit as specified for
RS-232 protocol).
Use a straight-through cable for connecting the SCU DCE port to DTE equipment. Use a
cross-over cable for connecting the SCU DCE port to DCE equipment

Connect one end of the interface cable to the serial COM port of a PC, maintenance terminal, or to other
networking equipment.
