Installing the 5.25-inch Device in the Peripheral
Bay
Your system has two 5.25-inch horizontal peripheral bays. If only one device (e.g., CD/DVD-
ROM drive) is installed in the system's 5.25-inch peripheral bay, you can add an optional device
such as a CD/DVD-ROM drive, hard disk drive, LS-120 drive, or ZIP drive in the empty
peripheral bay.
To install an optional device in the bay, follow these steps:
1. Remove the cover according to the instructions in "Removing the Cover" in Chapter 5.
2. Remove the HDD bracket from the system chassis. For more information, see "Replacing a
Hard Disk Drive" in this chapter.
3. Release the front panel connector cable from the chassis.
NOTE
If you want to install a 3.5-inch hard disk drive, you must purchase the 5.25-inch dock or
mounting bracket and attach it to your 3.5-inch hard disk drive to install your hard disk drive for
the 5.25-inch bay.
