Adjusting the Parallelism
Rapid Shape GmbH │ DOCR000438
Proceed as follows to prepare for checking the parallelism of the build
platform:
1. Wear protective gloves on your hands.
2. Open the machine.
3. Remove the collection basket and place it on a paper towel.
Caution! Watch out for material dripping from the collection
basket. Hold the basket at a slight angle towards the back to
prevent material from leaking out. Also place a paper towel
directly underneath the basket opening.
4. Ensure that the build platform, knife drip guard and knife, if
inserted, are clean. If liquid material is found adhering to the
components, remove them first from the machine before
removing the material reservoir.
5. If a material reservoir is inserted in the machine, pull the
reservoir out of the machine. To do so, press the reservoir down
slightly and then pull it out of the machine. Store the reservoir in
a reservoir box.
6. Take the calibration plate in your hands and check it for dust,
streaks and fingerprints. If necessary, clean the calibration plate
with a microfibre cloth soaked in isopropanol. Then remove any
streaks using a microfibre cloth soaked in glass cleaner.
7. Slide the calibration plate into the machine until the stop.
8. Insert the cleaned build platform in the machine.
→ Chapter 7.6.2
9. Place a DIN A4 sheet of paper on the calibration plate to avoid
possible scratches on the calibration plate caused by the dial
gauge.
For checking the parallelism of the build platform, please proceed as
follows:
1. Position the dial gauge under the front left-hand corner of the
build platform.
2. Now open manual mode: Press the «Manual Mode» button in
the main menu.
3. Press and hold the «Move Down» button. The platform now
moves downwards. As soon as the dial gauge hand moves,
release the button.
4. Now turn the dial gauge display until the hand points to «0».
5. Slide the dial gauge under the other corners of the platform.
Once the platform is set to parallel, the hand will always point to
Zero. If the hand points to other numbers, the platform needs to
be readjusted.
For adjusting the parallelism of the build platform, please proceed as
follows:
1. With a No. 3 Allen key: Loosen the inner fixing screw A on the
corner of the platform that you want to adjust. (see fig. below)
2. With a No. 2.5 Allen key: Now turn the outer screw B directly
adjacent clockwise or anticlockwise to lower or raise the corner.
Keep an eye on the dial gauge while doing so.
3. As soon as the pointer points to zero, tighten the fixing screw A
again.
4. Repeat this process until all corners are set to parallel.
5. Then press the «Reference» button to move the platform back
upwards again.
6. Remove the dial gauge from the machine.
7. Remove the DIN A4 sheet from the calibration plate.
