◊ reMoVInG THe CHUCK AnD

Make sure the switch is in the off position and
the machine is unplugged.
A wedge is included with the machine, to help in
removing the chuck and spindle if required.
Remove drill bit from the chuck.
Using a spindle handle, lower the quill until a slot is
exposed on the side of the quill.
Rotate the chuck and spindle assembly by hand until
the two holes in the side of the quill and the spindle
align. You will see through when aligned.
Insert the tapered end of the wedge in the hole (A), with
the flat part towards the top, and allow the quill to rise.
The wedge will be trapped.
Using a mallet, tap on the wedge with one hand and
hold the chuck with the other hand.

ATTenTIon: The chuck and spindle will drop
out of the quill. Be prepared to catch them.
◊ InsTALL THe CHUCK GUArD
Loosen the screw, slide the guard onto the quill and
tighten the screw to secure the guard in place.
Note: to facilitate drill bit installation and removal, flip
the guard up to keep it out of the way.

To prevent the risk of injuries, always cover the
chuck and drill bit with the chuck guard while
using.
Remove the bolt holding the cover in place and use it
to attach the cover knob to the cover.

To prevent the drill press from tipping, sliding, or
walking, it should be fastened to the workbench / to the
floor surface. The machine base has holes for fastening
to the surface.
