8. OPERATION

8.1 How it works...
Whileitispoweringup,theVEHhumidifierperformsthefollowingtasks:
• Fullboilerwashtoremovelimescaleresiduefromelectrodesandinsidethetank;
• Completeemptyingoftheboiler,toguaranteestart-upandoperationwithcleanwater;
• Checkingthecurrentbetweenelectrodes,tomakesuretheboilerdoesnothavewaterinit;
NOTE:ifsomewaterisleftafteremptying,thehumidifiergeneratesthe"Drainalarm",seesection"10.1 TABLE OF ALARMS
AND SOLUTIONS" ON PAGE 33 .
Ifthehumiditycontroller(humidistat)needsthehumidifiertoproducesteam,theVEH humidifier activates power control and
starts filling the boiler with water to activate steam production.
Thehumidifierletssmallamountsofwaterintotheboiler,untiltheamountneededtoproducesteaminaccordancewith
requirements is reached.
Dependingonthehumidistatrequirement,thehumidifieradjustssteamproductionbymodulatingthewaterlevel(and
consequentlytheintensityofthecurrent)byfillinganddrainingwaterasnecessary,forcorrectandprecisemanagement.
Intheeventofoverproductionofsteam,thehumidifierdrainssmallamountsofwateruntilcorrectsteamproductionis
resumed,inordertoavoidelectricalandthermaloverloads.
Tokeepthesalinecontentofthewaterwithinoperationalvalues,theVEH humidifier drains small amounts of water at set
intervals.
Regular boiler cleaning (rinsing) intervals can be set via the user interface on the electric panel.

personnel tampering with the parameters.
MALFUNCTIONING OF THE EQUIPMENT
The equipment should only be used and calibrated by qualified personnel who have been authorised by ELSTEAM.
8.2 Manual water drainage
• Activate the "Manual drainage" function via the user interface;
• The hydraulic unit starts the water draining process (the text MAINTENANCE appears on the display when the drain
processiscomplete(approx.6minutes);thehumidifierneedstobeswitchedoffandonagain);
• Waitfortheuserinterfacetoconfirmdrainagecompletion;
8.3 Switch-off procedure due to extended period of inactivity
Ifyouneedtoswitchoffthehumidifierforlongperiodsoftime,youmust:
• Manually drain the product using the manual drainage launch procedure;
• The hydraulic unit starts the water drainage process;
• Only 6 minutes after the drainage process has been completed,switchoffthehumidifieranddisconnectitusingthe
isolatorswitchfittedduringinstallation.
