Adjusting break-away clutch

SPB boom
1 Check that the lower nut (A Fig 30) is fully tightened.
2 The breakaway wing section should pivot around the
axle shaft (B Fig 30). Ensure that the breakaway
wing section (C Fig 30) is free to move.
3 Loosen the lock nut. (D Fig 30).
4 Tighten the adjusting nut (E Fig 30) to stiffen clutch
action. The clutch is properly tensioned when the
breakaway wing section returns to alignment with
the outer wing section after breaking away. Tighten
the lock nut (D Fig 30) after adjustment.

SPC boom
The same adjustment principle applies as for the SPB
boom (See above).
NOTE! The clutch should be well greased before
adjusting.
Adjust the screw (A Fig 31) until the breakaway will
release at a force of approx 80N at the extremity.

Aligning breakaway section with intermediate
boom section (SPC)
1 Slightly loosen the two bolts / nuts at A (fig 28), just
enough to allow movement.
2 Loosen locknut (B Fig 32). Adjust horizontal align-
ment of the breakaway section by turning adjust-
ment nut (C Fig 32). Re-tighten B.
3 Loosen locknut (D Fig 32). Adjust the claw vertically
by turning adjustment nut (E Fig 32). Re-tighten D.
4 Re-tighten securely the two bolts and nuts at A to
ensure stability of the connection.

Adjusting rear cable

WARNING! Rear cable can snap and injure you or
someone else if tensioned when the boom is
unfolded. Always adjust the front cable first with
the boom unfolded and the rear cable last with the
boom folded in the transport position.
1 Raise the boom to its highest position. Fold the boom
to the transport position with the tilt cylinders (if fitted)
fully extended. Make sure fold cylinders are pressu-
rised and that the boom is folded all the way in.
NOTE! For YZ booms, shut the fold switch off.
2 Lower boom into the transport brackets and shut the
tractor off.
3 Loosen the lock nuts on the turnbuckle (Fig 33).
Adjust the turnbuckle so that the outer wing section
contacts the boom transport stop bracket.
18-20m booms:Tighten turnbuckle another 4 turns.
24-28m booms: tighten the turnbuckle 3 turns.
4 Re-tighten the lock nuts.
