2.2 SYSTEM DIAGRAM

Frequency shifting system consists of frequency-shifting master-unit and frequency-shifting remote-
unit.
The master-unit receives GSM900 donor signal via direct coupling or wireless coupling, and
translates it to a GSM1800 link frequency for transmission to the remote-unit(IC/EC).
Point to multipoint operation is supported by one master-unit supporting multiple remote-units.
The mapping of channels is user-defined through the OMT software.
Through frequency translation from GSM900 to GSM1800 band, this system eliminates donor
antenna isolation problem and consequently permits flexible network design.
The chassis can be installed to a wall or on a pole according to the field situation. Donor antenna
and mobile antenna are connected to the repeater with RF coaxial cables.
