Introduction

Toshiba's next-generation CIE integrated control system TOSDIC-CIE DS is an integrated
production system that combines the de facto standard and our own control technology. Our
advanced control technology and computer technology, along with the standard multi-vendor
network and easy-to-use integrated engineering tools, enable you to realize an reliable system
in an open environment.
This manual describes mainly the system functions of the server station SVR-DS for
TOSDIC-CIE DS. Read this manual thoroughly to understand the functions of the SVR-DS
functions before you use the system.
First, read "Safety Precautions" carefully to use this device safely and correctly.

This manual consists of the following chapters:
Chapter 1 Overview of SVR-DS
This chapter describes the TOSDIC-CIE DS system and SVR-DS, hardware configuration,
and standard functions.
Chapter 2 Tag Management
This chapter describes the System Builder managed by SVR-DS and the internal tags.
Chapter 3 Database Management
This chapter describes the Historical Database and Network Database managed by SVR-
DS, and management of user applications.
Chapter 4 Background Processing
This chapter describes SVR-DS's background processing such as alarm monitoring and
event condition management.
Chapter 5 Alarm Output
This chapter describes voice messages and external alarm output for process and system
alarms.
