Problem solving

Error Possible cause
Blocked vent flap
Faulty capacitor
Light working, motor
not working
Defective / jammed motor
Motor emits odours
In addition to the above causes, also the following are possible:
Light not working, Faulty light bulbs
motor not working
No power supply / appliance power
cord not connected correctly
Leakage from V-flap
Traces of oil
Leakage from joint between chimney
and hood cabinet
An edge of the V-flap is damaged
and is causing vibration
Hood vibration
Motor is not securely mounted
Cabinet is not securely mounted
Distance between hood and hob is
excessive
Insufficient air
extraction
Excessive air flow from an open door
or window
Mounting bracket not securely fixed
Device is unstable
Fixing screws not tightened

Solution
Remove obstruction
Replace capacitor
Replace motor
Replace motor
Replace bulbs
Check fuse / connect appliance
power cord correctly
Seal V-flap
Seal the joint with suitable means
Replace the complete V-flap
Mount the motor correctly
Mount cabinet securely
Lower position of hood
Close doors and windows
Tighten mounting bracket
