    Getting Started with the MikroCAD Scanner Congratulations on purchasing a MikroCAD 3D Scanner. This quick start guide provides you with the resources to get you started on 3D scanning. Downloading the Software You can download the MikroCAD installer at http://lmi3d.com/support/downloads/mikrocad.

  • Page 7 Connecting the Scanner Cables 1. Using the short Ethernet cable, connect the Data/IN port on the Power over Ethernet injector to an Ethernet port on the computer (sold separately). 2. Using the long Ethernet cable, connect the P+D/OUT port on the Power over Ethernet injector to the scanner’s Ethernet port.

    The dongle is required to perform measurements, but not to acquire data. Windows may install a driver when you insert the dongle. 4. Launch the MikroCAD software. If the scanner is not listed in the scanner selection dialog, or if the scanner repeatedly tries...
  • Page 9 Avoid looking into the light projector or limit exposure to less than one minute. 6. Configure the brightness using the slider in the MikroCAD software. Use the Intensity Profile graph in the software to guide you. Try to set the brightness so that most of the peaks are below 256 and near the middle of the graph.
  • Page 10 To focus the scanner, align the vertical line of the projected cross pattern with the vertical line of the red cross in the MikroCAD software. Use the small knob on the column stand to fine-tune the focus. Use the large knob on the column stand to move the scanner more quickly.
  • Page 11 Failing to close the software before disconnecting the scanner may cause damage to the scanner. The scanner does not need to be powered to perform measurements on the acquired data. Setup of the MikroCAD Series 3D Scanner is now complete.

  • Page 13 3. Double-click the network card that you will use to connect to the scanner. 4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) in the list and click Properties.

When Obtain an IP address automatically is selected, Windows attempts to connect to a DHCP server for 60 seconds. Address Conflicts Address conflicts can prevent connections to the sensor. This may happen if there is more than one active network connection (WiFi or wired) on the computer to which the scanner is connected.
