GPI / O B ( J2 )
Six u n a ssign e d in pu t s are designed t o int erface t o open- collect or out put s. These
input s require no ext ernal pull- ups, while blocking diodes allow t he use of t ot em pole
out put s from + 4.5 VDC t o + 26 VDC. Opt ical isolat ors provide galvanic isolat ion. Two
print cont rol int erface circuit exam ples are given below.
For dir e ct in pu t s:
Use t he print er's + 5VDC t o supply t he devices
int erfacing t o t he GPI / O B input s ( as shown in
t he sam ple circuit , right ) .
For isola t e d in pu t s:
To provide galvanic isolat ion for t he GPI / O B
input s, rem ove Jum per JMP 11 t hen supply an
ext ernal + 5VDC source volt age t o Pin 1, and
rem ove Jum per JMP 10 t hen supply an
ext ernal Ground t o Pin 6 ( as shown in t he
sam ple circuit , right ) .
Six u n a ssign e d ou t pu t s have slew- lim it ed signal- edge rise and fall t im es t o
prevent cross t alk in t he cabling. Opt ional 10K ohm pull- up resist ors, one for each of
t he out put lines, can be used at eit her + 5 or + 24 VDC via Jum pers JMP 2 – 7.
N ot e :
I f ext ernal pull- ups are em ployed ( t hat is, when Jum pers JMP 2 - 7 are
not inst alled) , ensure t hat t he applied ext ernal volt age does not exceed
+ 30VDC.
