The faster the coffee beans cool down after roasting, the more fl avours they retain. This is why
it is important to allow the cool-down phase of the device to run all the way through and
not to interrupt it. To cool the coffee beans, which are now at approx. 90 °C, down to room
temperature as quickly as possible, you should pan them for a few minutes in a kitchen sieve
after the roasting process.
Process the freshly roasted coffee beans directly? This is not a good idea because the coffee
beans should fi rst degas for at least 48 hours. What this means: The roasting process produces
CO
which then needs to escape from the coffee bean. During this process, the full aroma
2
of the coffee bean also develops. The best vessel for this is a coffee canister with a valve. This
protects the coffee beans from oxygen without any loss of fl avour, while the CO
duced can escape through the valve.
However, you should also not wait too long before processing your coffee beans. Try to use up
the coffee beans within two to three months to prevent any losses of quality or fl avour.
To give coffee roasting a try, you need coffee beans – specifi cally unroasted beans known as
green coffee beans. To allow you to experiment straight away, we have also provided you with
a pack of our Brazilian green coffee (100% Arabica) (D). You can also obtain this from our
homepage www.beem.de. But you will also quickly fi nd what you want on the internet if you
are looking for other varieties of green coffee beans from all over the world.
Enjoy experimenting!
Roasting Coffee
PLEASE NOTE!
Always make sure there is suffi cient ventilation while the device is operating.
Do not leave the device unattended during operation.
Do not take off the lid when the device is operating.
1. Fill the roasting chamber (2) with 100 g of green coffee beans (see the "Operation" chapter).
2. Connect the device to a power source (see the "Setting Up and Connecting the Device"
chapter).
3. Start the programme you want by pressing the corresponding button (see the "Operation"
chapter). This starts to be lit constantly red and the roasting process begins.
The roasting process causes the water within the coffee beans to expand and the coffee beans
to burst open. The bursting open detaches the outer skin of the coffee bean, which is deposited
in the collecting container (C).
Please Note: A small amount of smoke may be produced during the roasting process. This is
normal and not a cause for concern.
The roasting process is complete once all buttons fl ash blue again.
4. Remove the mains plug from the plug socket after the roasting process.
5. Pour the roasted coffee beans into a kitchen sieve and pan them in it.
