9000 EDIA ONNECT MediaConnect 9000 was set up in the factory without enabling VCON Media Xchange Manager™ (MXM) management. If you want your system to be managed by an MXM installed within your organization, run the MXM Enable utility that’s included with the system.
Stand-alone or registered with another gatekeeper. Media Xchange Manager™ (MXM) Managed If the MediaConnect 9000 is managed by VCON’s Media Xchange Manager™ (MXM), you have to log in when you start your system. You can make this login process automatic.
After login is granted, the MediaConnect 9000 application opens. Stand-alone or Registered with Another Gatekeeper If your MediaConnect 9000 will be registered with a non-VCON Gatekeeper or not registered with any management system, the videoconferencing application’s main screen opens several seconds after the Windows startup.
Set up the MediaConnect 9000 Advanced configuration. Uninstalling Previous Software Versions If an earlier version of VCON videoconferencing software is currently installed on the computer, uninstall it completely. The Uninstall program deletes all previous version information and files. However, the program provides the options of saving setup information and the existing address book entries, which may shorten the process of setting up MediaConnect 9000.
After the computer restarts, MediaConnect 9000 runs automatically. The first time it runs after the upgrade installation, a message asks if your system will register to a VCON Media Xchange Manager™ (MXM) server. If your system is managed by an MXM, telephony exchange functions such as Call Forwarding, Call Transfer and Invite (ad-hoc conferencing) are available.
In addition, you may change any of these configuration details (as long as they are compatible with your equipment) whenever the system is on. The Advanced Settings button provides access to the configuration dialog boxes (see “Changing the Advanced Settings” on page 6-16).
