System module block diagram

The main board consists of a radio frequency part and a baseband part. The User Interface parts are mainly
situated at the UI board, which is connected to the main board through a flex.
The 1KMA is the system module of the mobile device.
The mobile has IrDA and Bluetooth wireless local interfaces. It features all PopPortTM ™ functions, like USB,
except for FBUS. The port includes stereo audio interface and ACI bus, accessory control interface, support. The
hardware will communicate with a list of ACI accessories.
ACI is implemented in the phone through BSI, Battery Size Indication, which is a little different from most Nokia
phones.l

Functional description

The heart of the BB is UPP_WD2, which includes the MCU, DSP and Digital Control Logic. Power is supplied by the
UEMEK ASIC and a number of discrete regulators. Memory comprises of 2 x 128 Mbit Stacked and 64 Mbit flash
memory devices and 128 Mbit SDRAM.
There are three audio transducers; 8 mm earpiece, 16 mm IHF speaker and microphone. The IHF speaker is also
used to handle the ring tone. The IHF speaker is driven by a separate audio amplifier. There is only one
microphone for both HS and IHF modes.
For data connectivity there is USB v2.0 full-speed, Bluetooth and RS-MMC card.
The display is an TFT type colour display with 65536 colours and 176x208 pixels with backlighting. The UI module
features a function keymat with a 4-way navigation key with a centre selection key.
For imaging purposes, BB supports a VGA camera via the CCP interface, which is integrated in UPP_WD2.
