2. MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

A. Fuel Quantity Indicator
(1) Removal - Fuel Quantity Indicator
(a) Set BAT 1, BAT 2, and AVIONICS switches to OFF positions.
(b) Serials 0002 thru 1601, 1603 thru 1643, 1645 thru 1662: Pull ENGINE INST circuit
breaker.
(c) Serials 1602, 1644, 1663 & subs: Pull FUEL QTY / HOBBS circuit breaker.
(d) Remove right mid console trim.
(e) Disconnect wire harness from fuel quantity indicator.
(f) Remove screws and washers securing fuel quantity indicator to center console.
(2) Installation - Fuel Quantity Indicator
(a) Position fuel quantity indicator to center console and secure with screws and washers.
(b) Connect wire harness to fuel quantity indicator.
(c) Perform Adjustment/Test - Fuel Quantity Indicator.
(d) Install right mid console trim.
(e) Serials 0002 thru 1601, 1603 thru 1643, 1645 thru 1662: Reset ENGINE INST circuit
breaker.
(f) Serials 1602, 1644, 1663 & subs: Reset FUEL QTY / HOBBS circuit breaker.
(3) Adjustment/Test - Fuel Quantity Indicator
(a) Remove right mid console trim.
(b) Drain LH and RH fuel tanks and collector tanks.
(c) Serials 0002 thru 2437: Add 1.5 gallons of fuel to each tank and allow fuel to settle.
(d) Serials 2438 & subs: Add 1.25 gallons of fuel to each tank and allow fuel to settle.
(e) Set BAT 1 switch to ON position.
(f) Remove tape covering fuel quantity indicator trim potentiometers.
Note:
(g) Adjust FULL trim potentiometers to center of travel.
(h) Adjust LH EMPTY trim potentiometer until needle indicates zero gallons. Repeat for RH
EMPTY trim potentiometer.
(i) Set BAT 1 switch to OFF position.
(j) Fill both fuel tanks to within one inch of filler cap.
(k) Set BAT 1 switch to ON position.
(l) Adjust LH FULL trim potentiometer until needle indicates full. Repeat for RH FULL trim
potentiometer.
(m) Set BAT 1 switch to OFF position.
(n) Cover fuel quantity indicator trim potentiometers with tape.
(o) Install right mid console trim.
(4) Adjustment/Test - Fuel Sender
(a) Verify ignition switch is in OFF position and remove key.
(b) Set BAT 1 switch to OFF position.
(c) Serials 0002 thru 2437: Fill each fuel tank with 41 gallons of fuel.
(d) Serials 2438 & subs: Fill each fuel tank with 46 gallons of fuel.
(e) Remove right mid console trim.
(f) Disconnect wire harness from fuel quantity indicator.

Adjust FULL trim potentiometers to center of travel prior to making EMPTY
adjustment. Failure to do so may result in FULL trim potentiometers running
out of travel before FULL adjustment can be obtained.
