8 – Series 9800 Field Installation
Description
When the TopKAT is interfaced with an existing 9800 pump/dispenser, it cannot be mounted
on top of the pump/dispenser. Instead, the TopKAT is mounted on top of a 50-inch high
standalone pedestal. All wiring connections are made within the TopKAT; no electronics or
control devices are present in the pedestal.
The TopKAT communicates with the 9800 (single or twin) through the first of its three
asynchronous ports. Port 1 is a dedicated RS-485 communication loop which allows the
TopKAT to control all functions of the 9800. Ports 2 and 3 can be set for either RS-232 or RS-
422 communications to a data terminal or computer. See
