Management
A craft interface is available via the front panel of the
System Controller Unit. An administration port is
available on the rear panel of the backplane. An
Ethernet management interface is also provided via a
rear panel connector, which supports TCP/IP traffic.
The Ethernet port also allows for external SNMP
management and TFTP download capabilities.
Time Slot (DS0) Mapping
The TSI-MUX is capable of mapping any 64 kbps
(DS0) channel to any other 64 kbps (DS0) channel
within the Total Access 3000/3010 shelf. Each
mapping represents a bidirectional link between 64
kbps (DS0) channels. The TSI-MUX has a maximum
number of 3584 time slots allocated for linecard to
linecard mappings/tappings. This will allow support
for a maximum of 1792 individual DS0 mappings and
a maximum of 3584 individual DS0 tappings when
mapping linecard to linecard. This will provide
enough mapping capability to map 56 E1 signals to
another 56 E1 signals within a Total Access 3000
shelf.
Configuration
The TSI-MUX supports an active and modified
configuration state. When any change to the
configuration is made, a modified configuration is
created if one does not already exist. All changes will
then be made to the modified configuration only; the
hardware configuration will not change.
When the configuration is activated via the system
management interface the changes are activated in
hardware and saved to nonvolatile memory. The
modified configuration can also be cleared in a single
operation that leaves the hardware configuration
unmodified.

Table 2. Switch Descriptions

Description
When activated with Enable activated, switches the unit offline and the protect unit online in
its place (transmit side only).
When activated alone, tests all unit LEDs (multicolor LEDs appear yellow).
When activated with APS activated, switches the unit offline and the protect unit online in
its place.
Section 61182022L1-5, Issue 1
This feature provides the ability to invoke multiple
changes simultaneously to minimize the interruption
to data processing due to a configuration modification.
The entire activation operation will occur within 2
seconds, but will only have a maximum data
interruption of 60 ms. All unmodified items will not
experience any data disruption; this prevents changes
to the time slot interchange mapping for one customer
from affecting the mapping for other customers.
Diagnostics
All diagnostic commands are activated immediately; a
modified provisioning configuration is not created.
All diagnostic options are stored in volatile memory
and are destroyed when the card is reset or power is
removed. There are no internal time outs for any
diagnostic function.
TSI Loopback
Loopbacks can be initiated at the time slot interchange
on singular or grouped 64 kbps (DS0) channels.
Loopbacks can be initiated on any time slot that is
mapped. The loopback temporarily overwrites any
active mapping or tapping for the 64 kbps (DS0)
channel(s), but the original interface will be restored
when the loopback is removed.
Loopbacks are activated in a similar manner as a DS0
mapping. Only one side of the mapping needs to be
defined since the other half of the mapping will be
identical to the first.
TSI BERT Diagnostic
The time slot interchange is capable of generating and
checking BERT pattern on singular, consecutive, or
non-contiguous 64 kbps (DS0) channels. Only one
BERT generator and checker is available for the time
slot interchange, therefore only one 64 kbps (DS0)
channel or one group of consecutive 64 kbps (DS0)
channels can be tested. Once the time slot interchange
test is started it will continue to run until it is stopped
or the test mode is changed.
