Possible causes/consequences and
Apply and then release the electric parking brake manually.

If it is not possible to apply the electric parking brake or the red ! indicator lamp continues to flash:
Do not continue driving. Consult a qualified specialist workshop.
#
Where necessary, also secure the parked vehicle against rolling away.
#
* The yellow ! indicator lamp is lit and the red ! indicator lamp flashes for approximately ten seconds after
the electric parking brake has been applied or released. It then remains lit or goes out. The electric parking brake is
malfunctioning.
If the charge level is too low:
Charge the 12 V battery.
#
To apply:
Switch the ignition off.
#
The electric parking brake will be applied automatically.
If the electric parking brake is not to be applied, e.g. at an automatic car wash or when the vehicle is being towed,
leave the ignition switched on. This does not include having the vehicle towed with the rear axle raised.
If the electric parking brake is not applied automatically:
Switch the ignition off and switch it back on.
