Autonomous braking function
The autonomous braking function may intervene
at speeds above approximately 7 km/h in the
following situations:
Vehicles travelling in front:

Vehicles without Active Distance Assist

DISTRONIC: up to approximately
105 km/h
Vehicles with Active Distance Assist
-
DISTRONIC: up to approximately
200 km/h
Stationary vehicles: up to approximately

50 km/h
Situation-dependent braking assistance
Situation-dependent braking assistance may
intervene at speeds above approximately
7 km/h in the following situations:
Vehicles travelling in front: up to approx‐
R
imately 250 km/h
Stationary vehicles: up to approximately
R
70 km/h
Cancelling a brake application of Active
Brake Assist
You can cancel a brake application of Active
Brake Assist at any time by:
Fully depressing the accelerator pedal or
R
with kickdown.
Releasing the brake pedal.
R
Active Brake Assist may cancel the brake appli‐
cation when one of the following conditions is
fulfilled:
You manoeuvre to avoid the obstacle.
R
There is no longer a risk of collision.
R
An obstacle is no longer detected in front of
R
your vehicle.
System limits
The system may be impaired or may not function
in the following situations:
In snow, rain, fog, heavy spray, if there is
R
glare, in direct sunlight or in greatly varying
light conditions.
If the sensors are dirty, misted up, damaged
R
or covered.

If the sensors are impaired due to interfer‐
R
ence from other radar sources, e.g. strong
radar reflections in multi-storey car parks.
If a loss of tyre pressure or a defective tyre
R
has been detected and displayed.
Full system performance is not available for a
R
few seconds after switching on the ignition
or after driving off.
In complex traffic situations where objects
R
cannot always be clearly identified.
For vehicles if they move quickly into the
R
sensor detection range.
On bends with a tight radius.
R
% The Active Brake Assist sensors adjust auto‐
matically while a certain distance is being
driven after the vehicle has been delivered.
Active Brake Assist is unavailable or only
partially available during this teach-in period.
