This bilevel CPAP unit should be used only with masks recommended by Sunrise Medical, your physician, or respiratory therapist. To avoid
rebreathing of exhaled air 1) a mask should not be used unless the bilevel CPAP unit is turned on and operating properly, and 2) the
vent hole(s) associated with the mask should never be blocked. When the bilevel CPAP unit is turned on and functioning properly, new
air from the unit flushes the exhaled air out through the mask vent hole(s). However, when the bilevel CPAP unit is not operating,
exhaled air may be rebreathed. Rebreathing of exhaled air for longer than several minutes can, in some circumstances, lead to
suffocation. This warning applies to most bilevel and CPAP units.
This is not a life support device and is intended to be used on spontaneously breathing adults.
To avoid electric shock, always unplug power cord from wall outlet power source when performing cleaning.
The circular DIN connector located on the back of the Model 9055 bilevel CPAP is used to attach external accessories to the product. The
DIN connector must only be used with Sunrise Medical approved accessories that comply with IEC 60601-1 or an appropriate safety
standard.
Do not place this bilevel CPAP unit near other equipment or devices that create or attract electromagnetic fields. Placing the unit in
electromagnetic fields greater than 10 V/m can affect its operation. Examples of such equipment are defibrillators, diathermy
equipment, cellular telephones, CB radios, radio-controlled toys, microwave ovens, etc.
Never rinse or place the unit in water. Never allow liquids to get into or around any of the ports, switches, or air filter; doing so will
result in product damage. If this occurs, do not use the unit. Contact your provider for service.
Do not place the bilevel CPAP where it can be bumped or where the power cord may trip someone.
Only DeVilbiss humidifiers are compatible for use with the DeVilbiss Model 9055 bilevel CPAP. Do not use any other humidifier systems.
Oxygen supports combustion. To avoid possible physical injury, do not smoke while using your bilevel CPAP unit with supplemental
oxygen. Do not use near hot, sparking objects or open sources of flame.
Always turn the bilevel CPAP unit ON prior to turning on the oxygen flow and turn off the oxygen before turning the bilevel CPAP OFF.
The flow setting of the oxygen source shall be specified by a physician.
The bilevel CPAP is not suitable for use in the presence of a flammable anesthetic mixture with air or with oxygen or nitrous oxide.
Oxygen is a prescription gas and should only be administered under the supervision of a physician.
