Notes on safety for the maintenance

The periodic maintenance is essential for the good operation,
safety, yield and duration of the burner.
It allows you to reduce consumption and polluting emissions and
to keep the product in a reliable state over time.
The maintenance interventions and the calibration
of the burner must only be carried out by qualified,
authorised personnel, in accordance with the con-
tents of this manual and in compliance with the
DANGER
standards and regulations of current laws.
Before carrying out any maintenance, cleaning or checking oper-
ations:
disconnect the electricity supply from the burner
by means of the main switch of the system;
DANGER
close the fuel interception tap.

Maintenance frequency

The combustion system should be checked at least once a year
by a representative of the manufacturer or another specialised
technician.

Checking and cleaning

Pump
If the pressure is found to be unstable or if the pump runs noisily,
the flexible hose must be detached from the line filter and the fuel
must be sucked from a tank located near the burner. This meas-
ure permits the cause of the anomaly to be traced to either the
suction line or the pump.
Contrarily, if the problem lies in the suction line, check to make
sure that the filter is clean and that air is not entering the piping.
Flexible hoses
Check that there are no obstructions or kinks in the supply or re-
turn oil pipes, in the air intake regions and the combustion prod-
uct discharge tubes.
Filters
Clean the filter in the oil suction line and in the pump.
If rust or other impurities are observed inside the pump, use a
separate pump to lift any water and other impurities that may
have deposited on the bottom of the tank.
Electrical wiring
Check the electrical connections of the burner have been made
properly (page 15).

Maintenance
Fan
Check to make sure that no dust has accumulated inside the fan
or on its blades, as this condition will cause a reduction in the air
flow rate and provoke polluting combustion.
Clean the fan if necessary
Combustion head
Check to make sure that all the parts of the combustion head are
in good condition, positioned correctly, free of all impurities, and
that no deformation has been caused by operation at high tem-
peratures.
Clean the combustion head in the oil outlet area.
Check the proper positioning of the combustion head and its fix-
ing to the boiler.
Nozzles
Do not clean the nozzle openings; do not even open them.
Replace the nozzles every 2-3 years or whenever necessary.
Combustion must be checked after the nozzles have been
changed.
Flue gases slotted holes
Check the proper adjustment of the fume recirculation slots
(page 19) and air recirculation slots (page 18).
Flame detector
Clean the flame detector.
Electrodes
Check the electrodes are positioned properly (page 15).
Diffuser disc assembly
Using compressed air, clean the diffuser assembly inside the
combustion head unit (page 19).
Gasket collar
If necessary, replace the gasket of the collar if it is worn or cut.
Combustion
The optimum calibration of the burner requires an analysis of the
flue gases. Significant differences with respect to the previous
measurements indicate the points where more care should be
exercised during maintenance.
Leave the burner working without interruptions for 10 min. and set
all the components stated in this manual properly. Then carry
out a combustion check verifying:
– Smoke number (Bacharach);
– Percentage of CO
– Content of CO (ppm);
– Content of NOx (ppm);
– Smoke temperature at the chimney;

GB
(%);
