Replacing the storage drive

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
To replace the storage drive, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 82.
3. Locate the storage drive. See "Computer components" on page 31.
4. Disconnect the signal cable and the power cable from the storage drive.
5. Remove the four screws that secure the storage drive. Slide the storage drive to the rear of the
computer, and then remove it from the computer.

6. Slide the new storage drive into the storage drive bay to the front of the computer until the four screw
holes in the storage drive align with the corresponding screw holes in the chassis.

7. Install the four screws to secure the storage drive to the chassis.
8. Connect the signal cable and the power cable to the new storage drive.
