1.3 Intended use
Supplements for the DRIVE-CLiQ encoders for safety applications (order codes Q22 and
Q23)
The SIMOGEAR geared motor with DRIVE-CLiQ rotary encoder has a signal yellow marking on
the fan cover. The marking SI04 for the DRIVE-CLiQ rotary encoder is stated on the rating
plate.

The encoder is mounted in compliance with the relevant standards listed in the Declaration of
Conformity for safety-relevant applications. Observe the notes in Chapter Ensuring functional
safety (Page 15). Siemens AG does not accept any liability for injury or damage resulting from
non-observance of these operating instructions.
The DRIVE-CLiQ rotary encoder is suitable for
use in the following environments

e.g. indoor installation for conveyor technology
Conditionally in port installations
The geared motor with DRIVE-CLiQ rotary encoder is only safe for use with a suitable encoder
evaluation unit on the SINAMICS S120 and corresponding safety settings (for details, please
refer to the SINAMICS S120 documentation) and activated motor protection evaluation.
The DRIVE-CLiQ rotary encoder is designed for a maximum input speed (motor speed) of
4500 rpm.
The DRIVE-CLiQ rotary encoder is designed for a maximum angular acceleration of the motor
of 4000 rad/s
