MIBII Logical Interface Behavior

Logical/Virtual Port

When a SmartSwitch creates a MIBII interface or logical port to represent the
SmartTrunk group, other SmartSwitch features will work with the logical port.
The only exception is RMON, which works on physical ports.
NOTE
Virtual and Logical refer to the same type of port.
Specifics:
• Virtual port numbers may not be contiguous.
• SmartTrunk virtual port numbers are persistent.
• Broadcast Suppression
Works only on the logical port. Sets to the physical port are accepted, but do
not take affect until after the port is removed from the trunk.
• RMON
Works on the physical port, but not on the logical port.
• REMAP (Port Mirroring)
Works on the logical port. Physical ports are not available for remapping.
• GARP/GVRP/GMRP
Works on the logical port. GARP on the physical ports of the trunk will stop
transmitting PDUs. GARP on the logical port will then start sending PDUs.
• Priority Queuing
Works on the logical port. Any information about physical ports is unchanged
when a port is added to a trunk.
