Displaying the Current VID/Classification Assignments

Before assigning classifications to VLANs, you may want to see which ports are set to a particular
VLAN/Classification. To do this, the Protocol Port Configuration screen must be displayed. While
in that screen, ports may be enabled or disabled from the VLAN/Classification.
NOTE: It is strongly recommended that you read
concerning classification before configuring the SmartSwitch device. Incorrect
configuration will affect network operation.
To access the Protocol Port Configuration, proceed as follows:
1. Use the arrow keys to step to the line with the VLAN/Classification/Description of interest.
2. Press ENTER. The Protocol Ports Configuration screen displays, showing all ports and those
associated with the VLAN/Classification/Description selected in Step 1. The ports associated
with the VLAN/Classification are identified by a YES. For more information about the Protocol
Ports Configuration screen and how to use it, refer to
2.3.3

Assigning a Classification to a VID

To assign a Classification to a VID, proceed as follows:
1. Use the arrow keys to highlight the VID (VLAN identification) field.
2. Type in the appropriate VID. Press ENTER.
3. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Classification field.
4. Press the SPACE bar to step to the appropriate Classification.

5. Use the arrow keys to highlight the subclassification field to the immediate right of the
Classification field. The name of the field changes depending on the selected Classification, as

6. Press the SPACE bar to step to the appropriate protocol. In some cases, there is only one
selection and a user defined value needs to be entered. This is indicated by bold zeros.
