10.5.4 Grounding

NOTICE
An optimum grounding is required to impede possible interferences from the
control and to discharge them to the ground.
Functional earth
Only the functional earth (FE) is used for the Safety extension mod-
ule
IndraControl
IndraControl S20 components. The functional earth (FE) is only
used to discharge disturbances. For individuals, the functional earth
is not intended as protection against electric shock.
The control is grounded via the top-hat rail. The top-hat rail, on which the con-
trol is mounted, has to be mounted to a grounded metal carrier, e. g. the rear
panel of the control cabinet.
The Safety extension module IndraControl XFE01.1-SY-01 and the IndraControl
S20 I/O modules are at least provided with one FE spring (metal clip) at their
lower side creating an electric connection to the mounting rail while mounting.
If necessary, provide the top-hat rail with a separate grounding connection.
Voltage jumper
The voltage jumper FE (functional earth) is routed from the control through all
connected IndraControl S20 modules. This ensures that these terminals are
grounded once the control, the supply terminals and the top-hat rail were groun-
ded properly.
Potential equalization
Potential equalization acc. to DIN VDE 0100 part 540 has to be provided be-
tween the system parts and the voltage supply.
Information on the protective conductor system
All system components have to be connected to the PE protective conductor sys-
tem at the connectors marked accordingly.
