38 Network and drive connectivity configuration
4. Change the Network Topology to STAR. Make sure that communication speed
matches with the drive settings (parameter group 70 DDCS control). The
communication speed usually ranges from 1Mbps...4Mbps.
5. Click Save to store the settings.
Notes:
1. If single drive contains more than one control unit, for example INU/ISU, then instead
of NDBU branching unit you can connect the control units in a DDCS ring connection.
2. If you need to change communication settings such as the communication speed or
node ID of the connected drives, turn the power of the drive control unit off and back
on. ABB recommends timing the installation during a maintenance break.
3. ABB does not recommend to enable Modbus/TCP GW mode when you connect
NETA-21 to cloud. The Modbus/TCP GW mode impacts the quality of the data which
is collected with monitor logging (every one second) and send to cloud. In special
cases such as MV drive monitor and control, where single control unit is controlled
over Modbus/TCP and monitored via cloud using the shared CH3 DDCS channel
using one NETA-21 module, it is allowed to enable Modbus/TCP GW mode.
4. During cloud monitoring, NETA-21 should be connected to CH3 tool channel of the
drive and CH0 fast mode should be disabled.
Note: CH0 fast mode is intended only for fast Modbus/TCP control when cloud
connection is not active on the NETA-21.
5. For information on Ethernet GW mode usage scenario, see section
DDCS CH3 but used by NETA-21
on page 62.
