OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS AND LIMITATIONS

Placards

Important points to remember during operation are provided at the
control stations by DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION, NOTICE, and
INSTRUCTION placards. This information is placed at various loca-
tions for the express purpose of alerting personnel of potential haz-
ards constituted by the operating characteristics and limitations of
the machine. Refer to the Foreword for definitions of placard safety
signal words.

Capacities

Raising platform above horizontal with or without any load in plat-
form is based on the following criteria:
1.
Machine is positioned on a smooth, firm surface within the
limits of the maximum operating slope.
2.
Load is within manufacturer's rated capacity.
3.
All machine systems are functioning properly.

Stability

PLATFORM LOADING

The platform maximum rated load capacity is shown on a placard
located on the platform billboard and is based upon the machine
positioned on a smooth, firm surface, within the limits of the maxi-
mum operating slope. Refer to Section 5.1 for the maximum plat-
form capacity.
The platform is entered through an entry gate at the rear of the plat-
form. Keep entry gate closed at all times except when entering/exit-
ing the platform and loading/unloading materials.
NOTE:
It is important to remember that the load should be evenly dis-
tributed on the platform. The load should be placed near the
center of the platform when possible.
