Key duplication cutting operation
3.2
Insert the original key into the left-hand clamp, kee-
ping it separated by a distance of 2 to 3 mm from the
edge of the clamp. See figure no. 9.
Tighten up the clamp, keeping the back of the key
properly pressed against the base of the clamp.
Insert the key blank to be cut into the right-hand side
clamp and, before tightening up the clamp, raise the
gauge © and align the two keys. Ensure that the two
pointers of the gauge are resting firmly up against
the top shoulders of both keys. Finally, tighten up
the clamps.
See figure 9
Both the original key and the key blank to be cut
should be inserted in the left-hand side of the respec-
tive clamps.
Start the machine and, holding the slide by means
of the handle (M), move the keys towards the tracer
point (I) and the milling cutter (F), pressing button (P).
The gauge © withdraws automatically as the slide
moves towards the tracer point and milling cutter.
Remember that you have to work from left to right.
Rest the original key against the tracer point and start
to work, moving the slide from right to left, using the
arm (B), and ensuring that the pressure applied to the
tracer point is that required by the spring incorpora-
ted into the slide shaft.
Once the key has been cut, return the slide to its
starting position. Then remove the keys by undoing
the clamps.
If the key cutting operation has left some burrs on the
cut key, these can be eliminated with the plane that
the machine has been fitted with for that purpose.
3.2.1 Cutting keys with narrow blades. Side 2 of the
clamp
To cut this type of key, and so that the milling cutter
reaches the maximum cutting depth, use side 2 of the
clamp. This will enable you to get greater depth when
cutting the key.
3.2.2 Cutting keys without shoulders
Insert the two wedges (2) (see figure no. 10) in the vertical slots ®
in each clamp, depending on the length of the key to be cut.
Rest the tips of the keys against the wedges (2). The keys are
now adjusted. Then tighten up the clamps. Before cutting the
keys, it is advisable to remove the wedges.
See figure 10
3.2.3 Cutting cross-shaped keys. Side 1 of the clamp.
Side 2 of the clamp.
This type of key must be inserted into the clamps from left to
right. Place the wedges (5) (see figure no. 11) with the opening
or recess facing upwards, in one slot or the other ®, depending
on the length of the key to be cut.
The teeth of the key can be cut in three operations, by turning
and locking the shoulder of the key against the wedge (5) each
time.
See figure 11

Maintenance
When carrying out any maintenance operations, the
following requirements must be met:
1
Never carry out any operation with the machine
switched on.
2
The machine must be unplugged.
3
The indications in this manual must be strictly adhe-
red to.
4
Original spare parts must be used.
4.1
Replacing the belt
To check the tension of the belt or replace it, proceed as
follows:
1
Switch off the machine and unplug it.
2
Undo the four screws holding the plane guard and
the pulley.
Loosen the three screws so that the belt is detensioned
3
and can be changed or tensioned.
4
Replace the belt.
Once the belt has been replaced, apply pressure to
5
the motor so that the belt is tensioned and tighten
the screws.
4.2
Changing the milling cutter or plane
Remove the milling cutter guard screw and the side
pulley guard. Lift up the guard.
To change the milling cutter: Insert the rod in the hole
in the shaft (A) and undo the nut (K) –left-hand thread-
in a clockwise direction, using the spanner.
To fit the new milling cutter, reverse the operation.
To change the plane: First of all, remove the pulley area
protection guard, held by four screws. Insert the rod
into the hole in the shaft (A) and undo the screw (T),
using an Allen key.
To fit the new plane, just reverse the process.
