This chapter describes how to mount your Switch into a chassis rack.
Following are standard rack-mounting considerations that Nortel
Networks recommends:
•
The maximum recommended ambient temperature is 40 degrees
Centigrade. Make sure the internal temperature of the rack also does not
exceed 40 degrees.
•
Do not block the power supply vents or otherwise restrict airflow when
installing the Switch into a rack.
•
Stabilize your rack properly so that it does not tip over under the weight
of the Switch and other devices.
•
Make sure that the electrical branch circuits are capable of handling
the Switch and other units in the rack before installing and turning on
the Switch.
•
Maintain a reliable Earthing path in the rack system. The Switch is
intended to connect to an Earth ground.
Warning: The Contivity Extranet Switch 4500 weighs about 60 pounds and
should always be carried by two people.
