5.4.5 COMMON PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED WHILE OPERATING AND USING THE SYSTEM
1. With the RHEL5.7 x32/x64 OS, there is no need to load graphics drivers for the embedded display card configuration.
Explanation: The RHEL5.7 x32/x64 OS provides limited graphics driver support up to a resolution of 1280 x 1024. Hence, no further loading is required.
The system has a graphics memory of 32MB.
2. This server supports up to 192 GB RAM. Some operating systems are limited by the maximum recognizable
memory. Explanation:
Windows server 2008 standard has a maximum recognizable memory of 4GB.
Windows server 2008 foundation supports up to 8 GB RAM. The SBS requires a minimum of 8GB RAM.
3. The operating systems in following list do not support partitions larger than 2.2 TB in size. When installing these systems, make sure that the size
of each partition is less than 2.2 TB.
The list is as follows:
Windows 2008 32b
RHEL5
RHEL6 32b
SLES10
SLES11 32b
4. When installing a Linux OS, turn off UTC time synchronization. Under a Linux OS, enabling UTC time synchronization can result in an 8-hour
time difference between BMC and Linux.
5. The BIOS Setup menu is not displayed on full-screen. This is due to changes in terminal resolution when console redirection is enabled. To display the
BIOS Setup menu on full screen, go to the Console Redirection Settings submenu and enable the Resolution 100x31 option for serial port.
6. If the mouse mode is changed due to problems with the remote screen ratio, refresh the remote desktop or adjust the size of the iKVM window
to counter this problem.
7. Use the following mouse modes while operating the remote desktop tool (JVivwer) under the stated conditions:
- Absolute Mode: for all versions of Windows, RHEL6 or later, and FC14 or later.
- Relative Mode: for all versions of Linux, RHEL6 or lower, and FC14 or later.
- Other Mode: for SLES-11 OS
9. When accessing the BMC with Firefox to edit system configuration, if a window with the option to "Prevent this page from creating additional
dialogs" pops up, do not check this option. The new configuration cannot be saved when this option is selected.
10. Before using the remote desktop tool (JViewer) to install an OS, do not enable KVM encryption and media encryption.Enabling KVM and
media encryption may compromise the performance of the operating system installed.
