If, in spite of all safety precautions, kickback or pushback occurs, the
kickback brake activates and stops the saw chain immediately. The
kickback brake will be activated by a forceful contact with the front hand
guard. This strike occurs when the machine is kicked upwards and the
front hand pushes the hand guard.

Right behaviour for basic cuts

Felling, Limbing and Cutting

1. Felling trees

When felling trees make sure not to endanger any person, not to strike
any utility lines or cause any property damages.
When standing on an uphill terrain always stand on the uphill side of the
terrain as the tree is likely to roll or slide downhill.
Before felling a tree, plan an escape path
and clean the path if necessary. The
escape path should extend back and
diagonally to the rear of the expected line
of fall.
Before felling is started, consider the
natural lean of the tree, the location of
larger branches and the wind direction to
judge which way the tree will fall.
Remove dirt, stones, loose bark, nails,
stables and wire from the tree.
